    CARPET

A carpet is a textile floor covering consisting of an upper layer of wool attached to a backing. The material is generally either made from wool or a manmade fibre such as polypropylene, and usually consists of twisted tufts which are often heat-treated to maintain their structure. Nylon is the most common material for construction of carpets. Nylon can be dyed topically or dyed in a molten state (solution dying). Nylon can be printed easily and has excellent wear characteristics. In carpets Nylon tends to stain easily because it possesses dye sites on the fiber. These dye sites need to be filled in order to give Nylon any type of stain resistance.

  • ceramic

    CERAMIC TILE

This material is made from various combinations of clay, sand, and glass. These materials are mixed with water, then fired in a drying oven called a kiln. The time and temperature for this drying process varies depending on the type of tile being produced. After the material has been sufficiently dried, they may be coated with a protective finish layer called glazing. Glazing may include colors or patterns, or may simply be clear, which maintains the natural look of the tile while adding an extra layer of protection against water and wear.

  • laminate

    LAMINATE FLOORING

This is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product, fused together with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood (or stone, in some cases) with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer. The inner core layer is usually composed of melamine resin and fiber board materials. There is sometimes a glue backing for ease of installation. It has the advantages that it is durable, as compared with carpet, and attractive, at a lower cost as compared to natural floor materials.

  • vinyl

    VINYL

Vinyl composition tile is a finished flooring material used primarily in commercial and institutional applications. Vinyl tiles are composed of colored vinyl chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses (1/8” is most common) by heat and pressure and cut into 12” squares. Tiles are applied to a smooth, leveled sub-floor using a specially formulated vinyl adhesive that remains tacky but does not completely dry. Tiles are typically waxed and buffed using special materials and equipment.

  • hardwood

    HARDWOOD

Wood flooring is any product manufactured from timber that is designed for use as flooring, either structural or aesthetic. Bamboo flooring is often considered a wood floor, although it is made from a grass (bamboo) rather than a timber. They come in a wide range of dimensions and styles, with each plank made of solid wood and milled from a single piece of timber. Solid hardwood floors were originally used for structural purposes, being installed perpendicular to the wooden support beams of a building.

  • countertops

    GRANITE AND NATURAL STONE

Countertops can be made from a wide range of materials and the cost of the completed countertop can vary widely depending on the material chosen. The durability and ease of use of the material often rises with the increasing cost of the material but this is not necessarily so; some costly materials are neither particularly durable nor user-friendly, albeit stylish. Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites usually have a medium to coarse grained texture. By definition, granite has a color index of less than 25%. Granite is usually found in the continental plates of the Earth’s crust.
